Quarter of Gen Zs are transforming their old conservatories into home gyms

A 1980s classic is making a comeback with young fitness fanatics planning to revamp them as fitness and workout spaces.

New research shows six in 10 16 to 34 year-olds are using their conservatory more now than this time last year – double the number of over 55s.

And any notion that the glass-walled favourites are old-fashioned has been put firmly to bed, with 61 per cent of young people saying they disagreed.

In a survey of 2,000 Brits, a massive 25 per cent claimed they wanted to transform their conservatories into home gymnasiums.

Matt Forrest, managing director of Conservatory Insulations, said: “With a cost of living crisis on, we’re all looking to get the most out of the space we have, and it’s exciting to see young people doing so by opting to transform their conservatories into fitness spaces”.

Alongside this, half of Brits say they’re using their conservatories more – but the same number admit the fluctuating temperatures can put them off and 41 per cent want to insulate.

TV star Anna Ryder Richardson has revealed her top tips to make the most of your conservatory.

The Changing Rooms presenter and interior designer said: “I’ve seen so many cool examples of people using their conservatories to the maximum potential.

“There are many examples of brilliant gyms that have been converted within a conservatory.”
