Maple leaf paddling pool reopens after transformation

A POPULAR family attraction in Sutton-on-Sea has reopened to the public following extensive refurbishment and improvement works delivered by Alliance Leisure for East Lindsey District Council.

Located on the seafront, the Maple Leaf Paddling Pool was gifted to the town by the Canadians following the 1953 Sutton on Sea floods. It is one of three free public paddling pools operated by the council.

Alliance Leisure led a team of specialists, including Universal Group (principal contractor) and Axiom (project manager) to refurbish and upgrade the much-loved attraction. The project includes the installation of new infrastructure, such as new pool filtration and circulation systems, UV-resistant safety surfacing as well as a standalone plant room housing modern mechanical and electrical systems.

New interactive water play features will offer a variety of fun and engaging activities for children of all ages to enjoy.

Improvements have also been made across the wider site. These include upgraded walkways, refurbishments to the tiered seating, paths, railings and planters in addition to new street benches, litter bins and lighting hew. The site has been further enhanced with new landscaping and planting.

“The Maple Leaf Paddling Pool is a popular and unique landmark in Sutton-on-Sea,” said Alliance deliver manager Seb Rowe. “This much-needed refurbishment and upgrade will ensure that generations of local families can continue to make memories and enjoy free fun long into the future.”

The project was delivered through the UK Leisure Framework, owned and managed by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd and forms part of the wider regeneration of Sutton-on-Sea. The scheme follows the success of the £13.5m Station Leisure & Learning Centre in Mablethorpe, delivered by Alliance Leisure for East Lindsay District Council last summer.

The paddling pool project has been supported by a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund, distributed by East Lindsey District Council, as part of its commitment to investing in heritage assets and the creation of local visitor attractions.
