Gym highlights impacts of exercise for Children’s Mental Health Week

THIS Children’s Mental Health Week (February 3 to 9), David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds is calling for greater awareness on the positive impact that exercise can bring to children’s mental health.

Since opening last December, the Club has already welcomed members of all ages who are enjoying its wide range of health, fitness and wellness activities to build healthier bodies and minds, while having fun and learning new skills.

To celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds is offering a free family day pass, which can be redeemed throughout the week (February 3 to 7).

This provides families with the opportunity to experience the facilities and activities that are available at the new site.

General manager Kristen Westwood said: “Exercise and fitness is not just about physical health, it also has a profound impact on mental wellbeing too.

“Keeping active can help children to build their confidence, develop resilience, and foster a positive mindset.”

To help form healthy relationships with exercise and encourage a lifelong enjoyment for fitness, David Lloyd Clubs offers several bespoke classes where children and parents can work out together.

A popular highlight is David Lloyd Clubs signature group class REBELS where children aged eight plus can exercise with their parents or accompanying adult, offering a unique opportunity for the whole family to enjoy fitness together.

Kristen added: “Getting the whole family involved in fitness is a great way to create healthy habits that stick. “Often, going to the gym is a solo activity for adults, but we’re passionate about providing inclusive opportunities for adults and children to enjoy exercise together — it’s about having fun, staying active and supporting one another.”
